PBCC members band together to deliver aid to Ukraine

In March 2022, the crisis unfolding in Ukraine gripped the world. Shortly after news broke, members of the Plymouth Brethren Christian Church (PBCC) put their compassion into action to raise funds and deliver aid directly to refugees displaced by the war.

Coordinated through the charitable arm of our Church, the Rapid Relief Team (RRT), our Church Community set out to raise £250,000. We reached this target in less than 20 hours of the appeal being live, and together, we have gone on to raise over £1,000,000 to support the people of Ukraine. This generous funding enabled our members to act, and soon thousands of volunteers from the Church were scattered in warehouses across the United Kingdom, Germany, France and Sweden packing essential food and hygiene supplies.

“We quickly mobilised our greatest asset – our network of supporters and volunteers around the world. We have 14,500 volunteers across the globe, and all of them were on standby, keen to support, whether this was packing food and healthcare packs in Europe or feeding and caring for those seeking refuge in the US and Canada,” shared Rod Buckley, Rapid Relief Team (RRT) Director for the United Kingdom.

Since the start of our support, which we coined Operation 322, more than 200,000 Food Boxes filled with over two and a half million meals have been delivered to people impacted by the situation in Ukraine. These Food Boxes are filled with goods such as water and rice and are substantial enough to feed a family of four for four days.
