Do members of the PBCC undertake tertiary education?

We believe learning is a lifelong journey, and many members of our Community engage in further education beyond OneSchool Global (OSG). University is just one pathway Plymouth Brethren students explore following life at school, and many young adults opt to learn online so they can earn while they learn.

This video introcduces Kaitlyn Stead, Global Finance Administrator for OneSchool Global and member of the Plymouth Brethren Christian Church (PBCC). Kaitlyn is a great example of how members of our Church often undertake tertiary studies alongside developing their careers in the workplace. Kaitlyn is studying an Advanced Diploma in Accounting through Monarch Institute and shares her experiences undertaking further study online while working.

Hello, my name is Kaitlyn Stead. I’m working with OneSchool Global as a global Finance Administrator, I’ve been here for 4 years, so ever since I graduated school I’ve been working in the finance team.

Members of our church do believe that learning is a lifelong journey and education is for everyone in the community, and it’s definitely encouraged to take on further education.

Once we do finish school, boys and girls alike, we can choose to engage in further tertiary study and there’s many education and career opportunities for students to explore.

A lot of the tertiary education we do take up is online learning, which you can do while you’re working from early on in the workplace.

I was encouraged to take up extra education. I’m studying with Monarch Institute, the advanced diploma of accounting.

Being able to study online allows you to work at the same time, and doing it’s sort of a win-win situation because what you learn in your studies enhances what you do at work; and then also having that practical work experience you can apply that also to your studies.

So I started with OneSchool Global in an Executive Assistant position and working closely with the global Finance Director, and from there I’ve moved into more of a specialised role where I can use the skills that I picked up both through studies and from working closely with the Finance Director to hopefully further benefit OneSchool Global.
